2 Peter 3

  1. What does the last days refer to? The Period compassing the whole church age in between Jesus' first and second coming. The "last days" began when Jesus ascended into Heaven.

  2. From verse 3, what can we learn about "why scoffers, scoff?" They don't want to be held accountable for their actions. They don't want to see Jesus' return; they rebel against authority. They are immoral wanting to reject the Lordship of Jesus Christ over their lives.

  3. What Prophecy does Peter make in verse 7? The second coming of Jesus Christ. (Jude 1:14)

  4. What is the "Word" referred to in verse 7? God spoke and creation came into being- By the Word of God the Heavens were of old

  5. What is the "day of the Lamb, " in Chapter 3 verse 10? (a) The return of Jesus Christ resurrection the end of time, (Matt 24:50) Judgement of the world. What will it be like? (b) Come as a thief in the night. The Heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat and the earth also and the works there in shall be burned up. (Rev. 6:16) And said to the mountains and the rocks, fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb:

  6. What will happen to the heavenly bodies? The Heavens shall pass away with a great noise and the elements shall melt- burn up and dissolved.

  7. What are, "all Things" in verse 7, which are going to be dissolved? The earth and the deeds done on it shall be disclosed or exposed. (Verse 11)

  8. How does knowing that the earth is temporary affect how we live in it today? Live holy and Godly lives, that we may be found of him in peace without spot or blemish.

  9. What should we do while we are waiting for these things to happen? Not become idle, we must finish the work given to do. Learn to make right use of the patience of our Lord, have our minds prepared to receive things hard to understand, be diligent.

  10. What does it mean in Verse8, "That one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day"? God exists outside of the dimension of time. We will never be able to understand, or gully comprehend how time exists for God. (Ps 90:4) "For a thousand years in your sight are like yesterday when it is past and like a thief int he night."

  11. What does verse 17 mean? "Ye know these things before means; he fore warned them of the appearance, conduct and success of fake teachers and scoffers. We prevent a fall from our own steadfastness by growth in grace and knowledge of Jesus.

  12. Verse 18: what does "To him be glory for now and forever" mean? To the day of eternity- A Day without night, without interruption, and without end. When we are this ready and this steadfast in the grace of our Lord, it gives God glory.

AMEN: means desire, joy, and affirmation of our heart. A declaration of resolutions.
